by The Searcher inin part 3 of remember the wife of lot, prepubescent j.w.
kids are going to be shown something which demonstrates that the org condones watching disturbing horror content.
the "direction" the wtbts is taking is breathtaking.

Stephane and Stuck, it is an interesting matter, that of working hard. I was on a committee meeting last night with pillars of society (not the WT!) professional folk, financiers, administrators an ambassador, etc. These people are extremely hard working but happy and balanced. They don't waste time on Armageddon or niceties of Bible interpretation. They think at twice the speed of normal people and five times the speed of JWs. They get things done and they take long holidays.
However to be a JW normally prevents a person from enjoying a productive and useful life. At every corner in life a JW has to evaluate the daft thinking of his or her favoured cult and worry over the next move whether their leaders will permit it or not. Talk about self sacrifice--it is stultifying!
JWs are not usually motivated to be hard working except in slavery to their cult masters. They have been led to put all of their emotional 'eggs' into one useless Watchtower basket. Working for the WT will leave every last individual eventually being either deluded or disappointed, there is no other destiny for a J W. . .
To be a JW is to deny the pleasure of working hard and enjoying the benefits of your own work-- as the Bible recommends! (Eccles 3;22)

Well said Searcher and Smiddy. In desperation the governing body are reduced to using Bible horror stories to threaten their followers to remain loyal to the cult.
It's cheap, it's unkind and except for the Taliban and Isis, the rest of the world has moved on.
It will be a threat too far for many JWs and let's hope it will wake up those who have greater sensitivity to what it is to be human.

Why do the scan of all publications? To find "gems" like these

The headline pretending the Earth's crust is getting thinner, sounds like the Daily Mail on steroids! (A UK newspaper which gets people hooked by frightening them).
Of course Rutherford and co wanted the faithful to believe his personal nonsense of 1925 as the year the end is to come and the return of the "faithful men of old". Like it was really going to happen!
This is one of the main problems with cults; they do not tolerate criticism, there is no one, no mechanism to balance their idiotic pronouncements. The men at the top spout holy drivel like it is fired from a blunderbuss and nobody stops them. The world in general ignores the Watchtower leaders and rightly so but the true believers feel duty bound to fawn over them.

Just like the last couple of assemblies “Please don't give up now” is the begging message from the JW leaders. With so many waking up to the Watchtower lies, many JWs in the western world have seen enough to realize it’s a big con trick. (Mark 9;1)
The whole Christian racket has been droning on for two thousand years and nothing has happened. The Watchtower has been droning on for one hundred and thirty eight years and nothing has happened.
You know in your heart that paradise could be a great idea but common sense tells you it’s not going to happen.
In your heart of hearts you know it’s not going to happen so GIVE UP NOW and enjoy your lives, get an education, optimise your talents!
Otherwise you will only die unfulfilled, hopeless and disappointed.............like all Jehovah's Witnesses do.

Using violence to end violence?
by stuckinarut2 init really is mind blowing when we think about it : witnesses have no problem with a deity who will use violence in order to end violence?!?!.
armageddon will be gods war to kill billions of people...because it shows his love?.
thoughts?.

It's a poor state of affairs if an almighty god has to resort to violence to correct the problems with his own creation. It just reflects the Iron Age mentality of the writers of Bible texts who knew that power was only gained from military victory.

Told My Parents Yesterday That I Don't Want to Be a JW
by Saethydd ini wasn't entirely sure what to expect when i made the decision to tell my parents how i really feel, but i was prepared for the worst, fortunately, it didn't come to that.
after i told them i didn't want to go to the meetings anymore it led to a long talk with them.
they made a number of irksome and woefully uninformed statements but at least they were not aggressive and have said that they won't force me to move out over this, though, i can tell they are hoping they can convince me to "accept the truth," as long as i still live with them.

Are Jehovah's Witnesses Mind Numbingly Boring To You?
by minimus ini honestly think they are the most boring people on earth!
even when they produce their so called "new light", there's no excitement.
jws just do their thing and refuse to think about their useless lives.

To us here they are boring because we know exactly how they think... it's the cult of the brain dead and yet we must have been there once!
Never are JWs allowed to come up with original ideas, that privilege belongs only to their leaders-- and then they only modify their viewpoint to make the dumb belief system a bit less implausible.
JWs are snuggly smug in their absolute certainty about future rewards even though their history always proves them hopelessly wrong.
When it comes to family, they are often cagey or prickly on certain subjects and the true believers are always distant and edged with anxiety. What a relief to have escaped!

Rachael you are doing a sterling job getting to the roots of the Watchtower. It is necessary for you to enquire at this site since a few here are fifth generation Bible Students/ JWs. However there is little sense of WT history at the family level among witnesses.
Since Armageddon has been imminent for one hundred and thirty years, perhaps mementoes and records of the earlier days are discarded as irrelevant or even undesirable, the past is often lost in the churn of doctrine. Only what the governing body is now saying has relevance to the mind of the JW.
But do keep on asking.......
What brought you to this obscure corner of research?

It's a tough choice! window cleaner/pioneer or a kamikaze pilot?
but then being a JW does mess with decision making.........
